Praised by The Strad as “a force to be reckoned with,” internationally acclaimed Swedish cellist Jakob Koranyi joins the Belgium Cello Society for an intimate solo recital spanning three centuries of music.
From the concentrated intensity of György Ligeti’s Sonata for Solo Cello to the unfolding textures of Donnacha Dennehy’s Unfurling, the programme explores the remarkable expressive possibilities of the cello alone before culminating in one of the great landmarks of the repertoire: Johann Sebastian Bach’s Suite No. 3 in C major.
Renowned for the depth, refinement and individuality of his playing, Koranyi brings his distinctive voice to three strikingly different musical worlds—music of raw intensity, contemporary imagination and timeless architecture.
A rare opportunity to experience one of today’s distinguished cellists at close range, in a programme that places Bach in dialogue with two compelling voices of our own time.
